Practical Life

Practical Life exercises are the essential foundation of the Children's House. These are exciting and purposeful activities which imorove physical coordination as well as building self-confidence and independence. Children love to imitate adults. They desire to do things for themselves and enjoy mastering new skills. Learning how to pour your own drink or fasten zips, buttons, or buckles and shoelaces is immensely satisfying. Sweeping, washing up, polishing, or dusting make a familiar link with the child's home life. Preparation and cleaning up are an integral part of each task - all children, even the very youngest, are capable of taking this responsibility. Perhaps the greatest value for the future gained through the activities of Practical Life is the ability to focus the attention and concentrate.
